Punta Mita - Water Sports
Located just off the coast of Punta Mita is the Marietas Island Marine Reserve, one of Mexico's most notable dive sites. Here you can view large mantas and explore La Corbetena, an underwater canyon. Los Arcos in nearby Banderas Bay is a popular spot to view tropical fish.
Punta Mita is a haven for sportfishing. Sailfish, Wahoo, Amberjack, Dorado, and Marlin are just a few of the many varieties of fish in the area. Whale Watching
Whale Watching season in Punta Mita, Mexico is December - April. The Humpback whales pass the peninsula just offshore, often breaching the water for ideal viewing. These curious creatures show little fear of boats and will often approach the vessel, rub up against and it turn a wary eye to viewers. A magnificent experience. All tours depart from Nuevo Vallarta.
