St. George Village Botanical Gardens Off Route 70, east of Route 64 340-692-2874 A National Historic District, these famous botanical gardens offer a 17-acre park created over a pre-Columbian Indian settlement. They also hold the ruins of a 19th century plantation. Come listen to the birds of the native forest, smell the flowers of the rainforest and view the gorgeous tropical colors. Estate Whim Plantation Museum 340-772-0598 Estate Whim Plantation is a restored sugar plantation with a greathouse, slave quarters, cookhouse, windmill, factory and souvenir shop. Simply pick up a free brochure at the local tourism office or your car rental agency, hop in the car and begin the tour. Square brown and white signs mark the site to ensure you don't lose your way. Please note that the tour is quite comprehensive and takes about two days to complete.
